The Taco Terrier got its name from its two parent breeds, the Chihuahua and the Toy Fox Terrier. The Taco part of the name is a referral to the little Chihuahua on the Taco Bell commercials. This is a popular breed that is tiny so they are able to fit into any household, no matter how small. They come in many colors but are usually parti-colored sable, brindle, pied, spotted, merle, or speckled. They usually have a short coat unless the Chihuahua parent is a long-haired type. The Taco Terrier is an intelligent and eager to please type of dog that gets along with most other pets and older children. Even though the Taco Terrier is small, it has a huge personality and tons of courage and bravery. They will defend their family from any danger no matter how large and scary they are so they should be socialized as puppies to be manageable. When training, you have to be patient and firm because they may try to push the boundaries if they can. Due to their Terrier parentage, they are high energy and enjoy hunting so you have to watch them around small animals like rabbits and guinea pigs. However, they are very loving and affectionate with their family and make wonderful lap dogs. Because both the Chihuahua and the Toy Fox Terrier are energetic dogs, the Taco Terrier will need a lot of exercise every day. It is essential that your dog gets at least 90 minutes to two hours of vigorous exercise daily to stay healthy and prevent boredom. These tiny dogs do not even need much room for most activities and you can do most of it right in your house but all dogs need to go outside a couple of times per a day. It is preferable that you take your Taco Terrier for two or three walks per day and add in some extra activities like a game of fetch, visiting the dog park, or running around in the yard. He is small enough to live in an apartment, but ideally this spritely hybrid would love a secure back yard to dig and play in.
